Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
While the first Guardians of the Galaxy was a great film, I can honestly say I wasn’t prepared for Volume 2 to be even better. In a lot of ways, the film felt more balanced. Characters, like Karen Gillan’s Nebula, had more to do. That said, it was the emotional arc of this story that elevated this over the original, for me. Without getting too personal, I will say that Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) coming to the realization that Yondu (Michael Rooker) was his true father hit home for me. Additionally, Kurt Russell’s amazing performance as Ego the Living Planet gave this film a truly memorable villain. This is something that is surprisingly missing from many Marvel films. Lastly, Baby Groot was the cutest thing since the world was first introduced to kittens. Starting the film off with his Mr. Blue Sky dance number was pure genius, and I have nothing but pure love for this film.
